As the hot and humid Summer changes into the crisp and cool Fall, your skin’s needs are changing too. Instead of reaching for mattifying products, you may want to go for something that gives you a gorgeous glow instead. To keep your skin looking beautiful this season, follow my Fall Skin Care Tips.
Fall Skin Care Tips: Add more moisture.
As mentioned in the intro of this post, one of the biggest changes that I notice in my skin as the warm weather becomes cooler is its increased dryness. During the Summer, I’m battling excess moisture in the mid-afternoon. During the Fall, my skin becomes dry as the day wears on. To keep it hydrated and glowing I like to use a serum. This one from Heliotrope SF is especially good.
Along with relieving dryness and irritation, the Frankincense and Rose Geranium Serum from Heliotrope balances and tones my skin. This formula is especially good for oily skin, like mine. Containing vegetable and botanical oils, this natural and non-comedogenic serum is ideal for my skin during the Fall. It moisturizes and nourishes my skin, without emollients.
When I received this PR gifted serum, it was recommended that I use it during my evening skincare routine, which I do. But, I’ve found that it absorbs into my skin so fast that I can use it in the mornings too. I’ve been using it twice and day and the tone of my skin has dramatically improved!
This Fall skin care tip is actually a two-for-one tip! During the Fall season, I find it extremely important to be gentle with my skin as well as slough off any lingering residue on a regular basis. Cooler temperatures leave my skin vulnerable to damage. Think of how the skin on your hands can crack during the Fall or Winter if the soap that you use on them is too harsh. The same can happen with the skin on your face. Gently exfoliating my skin keeps it looking healthy and bright.
To gently pamper my skin and remove excess dirt and grime, I reach for a gentle exfoliant. The Lemon & Thyme Charcoal Facial Scrub is new at Heliotrope and is rapidly becoming a best seller. When I discovered it in Heliotrope’s flagship store at 415 Valencia Street, I knew that I had to try it! In addition to the serum mentioned above, I was generously gifted this natural clay-based foaming scrub. I’m so glad that I was because my skin is loving it.
I’ve incorporated this activated charcoal scrub into my evening skincare routine 2-3 times a week. Although it is gentle, I would not recommend using it more often than that, especially during the Fall. I apply this to my damp skin using a circular motion, then I rinse it off. My skin feels so refreshed and clean after using this gentle scrub. This makes sense since activated charcoal is naturally anti-bacterial and detoxifying. As you may have guessed, I follow this up with the Heliotrope Frankincense and Rose Geranium Serum and my skin feels (and looks) incredible!
Fall Skin Care Tips: Summary
Moisture is key as the air becomes cooler and drier than it was during the summer months. Treating your skin gently, while giving it a good exfoliation, will keep it looking healthy and bright.
One last thing, because I cannot end a skin care tips post without saying it: protect your skin from the sun! Even though the days are becoming shorter and the sun isn’t shining quite as brightly, using SPF on your skin daily remains a must when it comes to caring for your skin.
