Made From Recycled Water Bottles

“From Bottle to Beautiful.” I have a new favorite brand of flats and they’re made out of recycled water bottles.

Intrigued? I was when I first discovered Rothy’s. Not only is the concept behind this brand incredible, but its location is also. Rothy’s is based right here in San Francisco!

How are Recycled Water Bottles Turned into Stylish Flats?

  1. Plastic bottles are chipped into little flakes.
  2. The little flakes are then pressed into tiny pellets.
  3. The pellets are made into spools of thread and then knit into shoes.

This sustainable process alone is what convinced me to purchase a pair of these flats. But, if you need a little more convincing, keep reading.

The soles of Rothy’s are also eco-friendly. They’re made from vegan, recyclable, carbon-free rubber and TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane). Adhesives used to bind the parts of Rothy’s together are created with low environmental impact. The insoles contain bio-based castor oil and recycled materials.

There Are A LOT of Styles and Colors to Choose From

Being made from recycled water bottles doesn’t limit the availability of Rothy’s or how many different styles and colors they’re available in. There are many different solid colors, weaves, patterns, and styles to choose from when selecting your perfect pair of Rothy’s. If you like options, Rothy’s has them.

Flats are what Rothy’s are currently well-known for, but they also make sustainable loafers and sneakers. I’d really like to get a pair of sneakers next. As for the little ones, Rothy’s has them covered too. Rothy’s makes kid’s loafers and kid’s sneakers in several different patterns and colors. They’re really cute, trust me – take a look here!

What a brilliant idea! I’d never have thought of shoes from recycled bottles, but it’s great that it’s possible & that they’re still stylish and comfy! xx
