The weather is okay here in San Francisco, but once in a while, I need the sun and the sea. Starting to feel the urge to get away, we took a 1/2 day trip to one of my favorite places: Sausalito, CA.

Getting the Day Started
Our Sunday morning started off normally with dance at ODC Dance Commons and coffee/tea. Coffee for my husband, tea for me. This morning we had extra time so we walked a few blocks to Craftsman & Wolves. My husband got their standard drip coffee and I went for their Oolong iced tea.
Things to Do in Sausalito, CA
After dance class for my little one was over, we hopped in the car and headed across the Golden Gate Bridge. Our first stop being The Trident. The food here is delicious but greatly overpriced. Because of the spectacular outdoor area, we let the prices slide. I highly recommend asking for a table outside when you dine here. They have efficient heaters so you can enjoy the outdoor ambiance without having to worry about getting chilly.
Next, we took a stroll and checked out the local shops. We stopped in some gift shops, the Christmas shop, and a couple of art galleries. Being such a sunny day, we knew we had to take a break and get some ice cream. We headed to Lappert’s Ice Cream then sat down in Vina Del Mar Park to enjoy our sweets.
Vina Del Mar Park
My little one got chocolate ice cream and I got Cookie Monster. This is a blue cookies-n-cream type ice cream with oreo pieces and cookie dough. It’s so yummy that after trying a bit, my daughter decided she wanted to switch flavors with me. I obliged because I love chocolate too!
Vina Del Mar Park may be small, but it is beautiful. The entrance of the park boasts large elephant statues. The focal point of the park is the large circular fountain in the center. The inside of the park is blanketed in soft green grass, perfect for sitting. The perimeter of the park is lined with colorful flowers and green shrubbery.
Now being mid-afternoon, we headed back to our car and back across the Golden Gate Bridge into the city. Have you ever been to Sausalito, CA? What are your favorite things to do in Sausalito, CA? Do you have anything fun planned for this weekend?
