What is a “Skincare Fridge?”

I recently read a couple of articles about Skincare Fridges and the one in particular that everyone is loving on Amazon. Like your reaction now, I was like, wait… what? A “Skincare Fridge” aka a “Beauty Fridge?” What in the world is that? I’ve done the research, so you don’t have to!

Some skincare products have a recommend temperature that you should store them at or they at least advise that you should store them in a cool, dark place. I’ve read this, but basically, I’ve ignored it. Going through the skincare products that I currently have I’ve found that I should be storing a significant amount of them in a beauty fridge.

Before I Discovered the Skincare Fridge

At the moment, I try to store my makeup out of the direct rays of the sun. I don’t want these pricey products to melt, but really that’s my only concern. Storing my makeup and skincare properly can actually help me get my money’s worth and the most out of my products. The same goes for you.

Is a Beauty Fridge Necessary?

I’m starting to think of this whole concept more like food. I wouldn’t store milk on the counter. Why am I putting my expensive eye cream wherever I want and not thinking twice about it? According to this article on health.com, a skincare fridge may not be 100% necessary, but it does have its benefits. Storing skincare products properly lengthens the longevity of the products and it helps keep them clean. As soon as you pop open a jar of moisturizer you’re exposing it to air and your fingertips. Storing it in a cool, dark place when it is not in use will help keep it fresh and effective.

Store in a Cool, Dark Place

Think about how many times you’ve read about the bonus cooling effects you can get when storing skincare products in a cool place aka a skincare fridge. In the morning putting on a cool moisturizer can be very refreshing or slightly uncomfortable. Either way you look at it, applying something cold to your face in the morning is certainly going to give you a jolt and wake you and your skin right up!

Skincare Fridge Benefits

If acne is a concern of yours, applying a cooled down serum fresh from the fridge could feel very soothing. Applying a cool mask could have the same effect, calming your skin from the warmth and irritation blemishes can cause. No one wants to keep a full-on fridge in their bedroom or bathroom (weird) so this mini “skincare” fridge trend actually makes a lot of sense. The particular beauty fridge everyone is raving about on Amazon can easily and comfortably fit on your vanity or on the counter in your bathroom.

Plus, it can double as a beverage fridge, since that is what it is made for. Throw some skincare and diet cokes in there, why not?
