Take Care of Your Skin
Neglecting your skin can make you look exhausted, even when you’ve had that magical 8 hours of beauty rest. Rest is obviously important, but following a great skincare regimen is too. When getting up in the morning, wash your face. The water will help wake you up and a good cleanse will leave you feeling refreshed.
Dryness could be the culprit of dull, tired-looking skin. Especially around the eye area. Moisturizing your entire face, specifically the delicate under-eye area is key if you’re needing a little help looking awake.
Start with a cooling/depuffing stick under your eyes and follow that up with a brightening eye cream. This will give unwanted puffiness and dark circles the 1-2 punch. Hydrate the rest of your face with pleasant-smelling moisturizer. Mornings can be hectic, taking advantage of a little aromatherapy can help keep you calm and positive.
Full Coverage is Your Friend
Grab a full coverage foundation and concealer, these two tools will give you a flawless and fresh face. If you have combination to oily skin, go for a matte or velvet finish.
If your skin leans more towards the dry side, go for a foundation with a natural finish. A smooth, even complexion will provide the perfect base to highlight key points of your face and give it that fresh look you’re seeking.
Now that you’ve laid the foundation with cooling sticks, eye creams, and concealers, it’s time to put the icing on the cake. Set the black eyeliner aside, there is no need for it this morning! Instead, grab a neutral, shimmering eyeshadow. I like sandy-beige colors for myself, but try to pick something that’s pretty close to your natural skin tone.
Applying this splash of shimmer to your eyelids will give them a dewy, effortless look. Then, apply a dramatic, lengthening mascara ONLY to your upper lash line. This will open your eyes right up!
Fake that You’re Awake
To brighten your eyes even more and make them look impossibly rested, line your waterline with white eyeliner. Your waterline is the area between your eyelashes and your eye.

It instantly wakes up your look no matter how exhausted you may have woken up looking. Skip the mascara on your lower lashes and run out the door or freshen up a tad bit more.
Freshen With a Flush of Color
I love full coverage foundations, but they can leave your face looking a little flat. To truly get that Fresh Face look, add a subtle pop of color to your cheeks. Normally I go for a mauve or rose blush, but for a fresher, brighter look I’d recommend something with a sunnier tone. Find what flatters you the most, I’ve found that creamy, sherbert shades compliment and brighten my light, olive skin tone.
Shine Some Light
Add the finishing touches to your fresh face by highlighting your face in key places. First, grab a shimmering highlighter. Next, blend it into the tops of your cheeks bones and up around the outer corners of your eyes. Then, blend a thin line of that same highlighter halfway down the bridge of your nose. Lastly, swipe on your shiniest, most shimmering lip gloss and light up those lips.
Have a Beautiful Day
Take a look in the mirror and try not to be shocked by your gorgeous fresh face! I find that following these steps helps me not only look but feel refreshed and rested. But, even if you do still feel tired after adding these tips and tricks to your morning routine, you won’t look it!
