I’ve been noticing a different lipstick finish lately, not quite a matte finish, a powdery finish. I love the look, it’s softer than a matte finish, but not at all shiny. After a quick investigation, I discovered that Chanel offers a Liquid Powder Lipstick. Naturally, I had to try it and I had to try it in red. Here’s my Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder Lipstick Review.

Out of the tube, the consistency reminds me of a light and fluffy chocolate mousse. I’m not sure why, but comparing cosmetics to food has always worked well for me and it offers the most accurate comparison I can think of.
On your lips, this liquid matte lipstick with a powder effect is undetectable. It’s light and only ever so slightly drying. I almost don’t want to mention the drying aspect of it because it is so little, but to be fair I’d like to share my true experience with this product.
The Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder is available in 8 shades, ranging from a neutral pink (952 – Évocation) to a vampy berry (964 – Bittersweet). I went on the more provocative side and chose to try the shade 956 – Invincible. I do have my eyes on the neutral and vampy shades mentioned as well as 960 – Avant-Gardiste, which is a deep, brick red.
When wearing this powder-finish liquid lipstick, I apply two layers to achieve a vibrant full-coverage color. With the two layers, I found the color to be long-lasting. At my husband’s work holiday party I checked in with him after eating and drinking to see how it was holding up and his response was, “It looks fine. You didn’t touch it up?” Translation in my head: Wow, I can’t believe it still looks that good!
Each Chanel Allure Liquid Powder Lipstick comes in a soft tube that comes to a rounded point. The tube is soft so that you can gently squeeze out more product as needed. Unscrewing the black and gold top, you’ll find a sponge applicator that fills with the lipstick when the tube is squeezed. This applicator is all you need to apply this product perfectly.
Swatch and Try On
The price of this product is not as steep as I would have expected. Yes, it is pricey, but it’s Chanel. One Chanel Allure Liquid Powder Lipstick costs $30.00.
