Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes February 2018 Subscription Box Unboxing & Review

Ricky's NYC Cult Crushes February 2018

As I said in the January 2018 Ricky’s Unboxing post, “Ricky’s is quirky, Ricky’s is different . . .”

Ricky’s is 100% living up to that statement in this month’s box! Let’s chat about what I received in the Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes February 2018 subscription box.

Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes is a monthly beauty subscription box. In this box you can expect to receive a collection of hair care, styling tools, skin care, makeup, and/or makeup tools with a value of up to $50. Subscribing to Cult Crushes gives you 2 huge perks when shopping on rickysnyc.com. Cult Crushes subscribers get 25% off all online purchases and free shipping when they spend $50 or more.

$11.00 per month.

Boxes ship the first week of the month. You have until the 25th of each month to subscribe and receive that month’s box.

Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes can be paused or cancelled at anytime. Specific instructions are not listed on their site. If you want to cancel, I’d recommend e-mailing their Customer Care at customercare@rickysnyc.com to see what to do.

Chi Chi Pop Princess Eyeshadow PansChi Chi Pop Princess Eyeshadow Palette

Chi Chi Pop Princess Eyeshadow Palette

The inclusion of this FULL SIZE palette, worth $25.00, is incredible in a $11/month beauty subscription box. This has 12 colorful shades and I love that each shade gives you 2 finishes to choose from: matte or shimmer. In my YouTube video below, I review this palette and create a very Spring-y makeup look with it. Be sure to check it out!

Ricky's NYC Weekly Wispy

Rickycare Weekly #Wispy Kit

This kit includes 5 pairs of false lashes and lash glue. These lashes are supposed to look natural, but while they’re not very voluminous, they are very long. In my opinion, they’re not even close to looking natural. I had difficulty applying them the first time that I tried them and I ended up giving up on them. I always give products more than one chance to impress me, so I’ll give these another go and hopefully have better luck with them next time.

Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day Setting Spray

Gerard Cosmetics Setting Spray in Mango

This setting spray has the best mister I’ve ever used. One or two sprays are all you need to dispense this spray over your entire face. Using it, I actually noticed how well it locked my makeup in place. This setting spray is available in different scents, I received Mango and the smell is refreshing and pleasant.

nippies Ricky's Cult Crushes

These are by far the most unique item I’ve ever received in a beauty subscription box. If you’re unfamiliar, these can be worn under tops or dresses that don’t leave room for a bra. They’re especially great for backless tops. At festivals, I’ve seen women wear these alone under sheer or fishnet tops. I’ve never worn anything like these and probably never will, but I do think that I can re-purpose these and use them for something else. I’m going to get creative and make sure that these are not wasted.

The inclusion of the nippies made me smile, I couldn’t help myself! This product was so unexpected and a bit humorous. I’m not trying to make fun of them, they’re just not something I’ve ever been up close and personal with before. The setting spray and false lashes are great additions to my makeup arsenal and will (hopefully) be used regularly. That is if I can get the lashes to work for me. The palette was an impressive inclusion for a $11/month box! Well done Ricky’s, well done.

The value is great and I know I’ll find uses for all of the products included, but it’s not BABB (Bay Area Beauty Blogger) approved yet. I’m going to give it at least 3 months before making that determination. This is month 2, one more to go before I reveal my verdict.

Ready for my unboxing video and Chi Chi Pop Princess eye makeup look? Here you go!

BTW, my toddler sings her heart out at the very end of the video – make sure you stick around for that!
