After my favorite beauty subscription box, NYLON Box, was discontinued I had to find something to replace it. I have tried so many beauty subscription boxes and nothing that came to mind could hold a candle to my beloved box. I loved how quirky and different the products included were. For example, in my November 2017 box I received a lip gloss fidget spinner, what other beauty subscription box could possibly include something as comical and fun?
I started hearing murmurs about Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes a few weeks ago. This got my attention. I remembered Ricky’s NYC from my time living in Queens. Ricky’s is quirky, Ricky’s is different, the Cult Crushes box could be my new favorite. I subscribed and my first box has been delivered. Let’s chat about it!
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes is a monthly beauty subscription box. In this box you can expect to receive a collection of hair care, styling tools, skin care, makeup, and/or makeup tools with a value of up to $50. Subscribing to Cult Crushes gives you 2 huge perks when shopping on rickysnyc.com. Cult Crushes subscribers get 25% off all online purchases and free shipping when they spend $50 or more.
$11.00 per month.
Boxes ship the first week of the month. You have until the 25th of each month to subscribe and receive that month’s box.
Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes can be paused or cancelled at anytime. Specific instructions are not listed on their site. If you want to cancel, I’d recommend e-mailing their Customer Care at email@example.com to see what to do.
WHAT DID I GET IN THE JANUARY 2018 CULT CRUSHES BOX?
- RickyCare Dual Ended Blending Perfector – $12.99
- Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo – $7.00 (For the Full Size)
- KORRES Lip Butter Pomegranate – $12.00
- Jean Pierre Activated Charcoal Sheet Mask – $8.99 (For 5)
- SKINDANAVIA Post-Makeup Recovery Spray – $10.00
RickyCare Dual Ended Blending Perfector – $12.99
This 2-in-1 makeup applicator provides a makeup sponge to apply and blend liquid makeup products on one side and a brush to apply and blend powder makeup products on the other.
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo – $7.00 (For the Full Size)
This dry shampoo will eliminate unwanted shine (haven’t-washed-my-hair-in-a-few-days shine) and give your hair body. This is made for and ideal for use between washes, but can also be used to give even freshly washed hair a voluminous boost.
KORRES Lip Butter Pomegranate – $12.00
This sheer tint lip butter is not formulated with Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, or Triclosan. It is formulated with natural oils and extracts that soothe and soften your lips.
Jean Pierre Activated Charcoal Sheet Mask – $8.99 for 5
I’m always up for a sheet mask! I don’t think I’ve tried a charcoal sheet mask yet, so this will be a new experience. I really like regular charcoal masks and am hoping I like this one too.
SKINDANAVIA Post-Makeup Recovery Spray – $10.00
This facial mist can be sprayed on your skin after removing your makeup in the evening. It feels very refreshing and is meant to soothe your skin and fight acne.
I’m impressed with my first Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes box. For only $11 I received 3 full size items (RickyCare Dual Ended Blending Perfector, KORRES Lip Butter Pomegranate, SKINDANAVIA Post-Makeup Recovery Spray) and 2 sample size items (Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo, Jean Pierre Activated Charcoal Sheet Mask).
The value is good and I know I’ll use all of the products included, but it’s not BABB (Bay Area Beauty Blogger) approved yet. I’m going to give it at least 3 months before making that determination.
