IT HAPPENED! I got the Glorious Golden Bear aka the MOSCHINO x Sephora Bear Eyeshadow Palette. So what’s with all the fanfare? The road to acquiring this bear was long and arduous. Okay, I’m exaggerating, but hear me out . . .
The day that the MOSCHINO x Sephora collection was originally set to be released, it wasn’t. Both my husband and I had our eyes glued to our computer/phone screens constantly refreshing Sephora’s page to make a purchase as soon as the collection was set free. Well, it never was that day. The release was delayed about a week.
Fast-forward to about a week later, I woke up the morning of the release and completely forgot about it. A few hours after waking up, I remembered it and frantically got on my computer. Unsurprisingly, the Bear Eyeshadow Palette, what I had my heart set on, was sold out. As a consolation, I was able to get the Shopping Bag Eyeshadow Palette. BTW, that palette is only $18.00 and it’s great!
Fast-forward again to a few weeks ago, my BFF received a Sephora eyeshadow palette as a gift and asked me how to use it. For inspiration, I hopped on Sephora’s website and what did I see? The MOSCHINO x Sephora Bear Eyeshadow Palette!!! I told my husband the unexpected news and he told me to buy it ASAP because he did not want to hear that it had sold out again. No argument here. I purchased the palette, it’s in my possession, and I love it!
Now, let’s review it!
The packaging is eye catching and adorable. This glorious golden bear comes in a toy-like box. The box is bright and shiny. It even has a “Touch-me” heart cut out of the front so you can reach a finger in to feel its smooth exterior.
The palette is large and 3D. As you may have noticed, it’s a shiny gold teddy bear with the phrase, “THIS IS NOT A MOSCHINO TOY” printed on its tummy. The back of the palette is flat so you can lay it down for storage. The feet on the bear are also flat on the bottom, so you can stand the bear up and put it on display. This will be a fixture in the back of my YouTube videos for the foreseeable future.
Inside the bear there is a large mirror and the 21 boldly colored eyeshadows. Around the pans and mirror, the material is not plastic, it’s a shiny gold cardboard. I was surprised by this, but the bear is really light weight so seeing that made sense. I think a shiny gold plastic on the inside as well as the outside would have looked better, but it’s really not a big deal since it doesn’t have any impact on the performance of the eyeshadows.
These eyeshadows feel very soft and smooth. You do not need to add a lot of eyeshadow on to your finger or eyeshadow applicator to achieve a bright, bold color on your eyelid.
The eyeshadows in this palette either have a matte or metallic finish. The mix of mattes and metallics is nicely spread between the bolder colors and more neutral colors.

INGREDIENTS & CLAIMS
The 1st ingredient listed for both the matte and metallic shades is mica, which is pretty standard for eyeshadow.
There aren’t any claims attached to this palette. I see that as a missed opportunity, Sephora could have easily talked about how pigmented and long lasting the shades in this palette are in its description.
This palette comes with a look book containing 4 makeup tutorials. You can use this palette to create these mapped out looks or you could let your imagination run wild and create whatever look you’d like.

COST & WHERE TO PURCHASE
For a high-end fashion designer collaboration, this palette is very moderately priced at $48.00. I was shocked when I saw the price, I thought for sure that it would be at least twice that.
As of Monday, 1/15, it’s gone again! Keep an eye out, it may pop back up on Sephora’s site without warning. Last week my local Sephora had 3 on display, so you may be able to pick it up in-store. If you’re willing to pay extra, you could probably find this on eBay.
Seriously? Do we have to do this? Yes! Not only does this palette have a wide range of usable shades, the eyeshadow has a great formula, the palette has a great price, and the glorious golden bear is the most adorable palette packaging I’ve ever seen.
This is most definitely BABB (Bay Area Beauty Blogger) approved!
