Julep Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow Duo Review & Swatches

Feels Like Velvet Thumbnail

A versatile eyeshadow duo with a velvety, weightless formula that glides on with full-coverage pigmentation in one swipe, blends effortlessly, and stays vibrant with all-day wearability.

Last month, I added the Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow Duo to my Julep Beauty Subscription Box. I chose the Tap & Ballet Duo specifically because I enjoyed the color names (I’m a former dancer) and because these shades are perfect for my everyday makeup routine. I don’t normally wear eyeshadow on a daily basis, but I can quickly swipe these colors on while still keeping my look natural and simple.

PACKAGING

The Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow Duo is packaged in a small palette that doesn’t include application tools or brushes, but does include a mirror. The palette provides plenty of room for product while still being small enough to throw in a makeup bag, evening clutch, or purse.

WHAT IT IS

The velvety smooth texture and weightlessness of the formula comes from the extra finely-milled pigments used to create this eyeshadow. Being so fine, the pigments apply evenly and only require one swipe to get the full-coverage color that this product promises.

The Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow Duo is cruelty free and available in 14 combinations. The shades I’m sharing with you are Tap (a Warm Vanilla Matte) and Ballet (a Tan Cork Matte).

WHAT I THINK

The name of this eyeshadow does not lie. This eyeshadow is a velvety treat for your lids. It feels soft and goes on smooth. For me, even with my oily eyelids, both eyeshadow shades remained pigmented throughout the day. The color didn’t fade or crease with wear.

I find that the color applies consistently as well, apply one layer or 5, the color pay off is exactly the same. It doesn’t matter if the color is in the palette or on your eyelids either, it looks almost 100% the same in both instances. I think that’s pretty good, usually you need to swatch (which I did anyway!) to see what color you’re truly getting, but that wasn’t necessary with these eyeshadows.

The colors included in each duo compliment each other perfectly. They also blend together flawlessly. Instead of scrambling to put together an eye look, just grab this palette and apply! For every palette color combo available, apply the lighter shade to your eyelid and the darker shade into your crease. It’s as easy as that! If you get bored with that look and want to switch it up, apply the darker shade over your entire eyelid and highlight your brow bone with the lighter shade. This may not work with all of the color combinations available, but I think it’d work with most of them.

Bottom Line: When I chose to have these eyeshadows included in my October Julep Beauty Box, I was indifferent toward them. They looked nice, but I didn’t have any expectations. Now that I’ve used them, I’m a big fan. You seriously need to experience how velvety soft they are for yourself!
