The Julep Beauty Box Break Down:
Every month a new beauty box collection is released. This monthly collection of products includes beauty products and brand new nail polish colors, including some that may be limited edition.
New collections are released and between the 20th and 24th of each month you can customize what you receive in your box. During this time period you have the opportunity to pick exactly what you get in the following month’s box. You also have the option to upgrade your box and/or select add on products at Maven-only prices to be shipped with your box at no additional charge. If nothing catches your eye, no big deal, just skip that month!
Once you subscribe to Julep, you become a Maven. Once you’re a Maven, any and all products on Julep.com are offered to you at a discounted price.
Depending on your answers to the Beauty Bio questions and your personalized selections, you’ll receive only nail polishes, a combination of nail polishes and beauty products, or only beauty products. This month I chose to receive only beauty products.
One more thing that makes Julep great: it’s cruelty free and their nail polishes are vegan!
Julep offers 2 levels of boxes: the My Maven Beauty Box (which this post focuses on) and the Maven Luxe Box.
- The My Maven Beauty Box contains $40+ worth of products for $24.99/month or $19.99/month with a 3-month prepaid subscription.
- The Maven Luxe Box contains $60+ worth of products for $39.99/month or $34.99/month with a 3-month prepaid subscription.
October 2017 Value Based on My Personal Selections:
- $43.20 for Mavens
Boxes ship out every month starting on the 27th, they continue shipping for the next couple of weeks. It takes boxes 7-10 days to arrive. I’ve been receiving my boxes very early in the month, around the 5th. This month I received it super early on October 3rd.
You can easily cancel by calling or e-mailing Julep, specifics are on their FAQ page. Besides cancelling, you have the option to skip a month. This can be done by logging into your account between the 20th and 24th and selecting “Edit My Box.” Next select “Edit Your Details,” then select the option “Skip this month.”
Inside my October 2017 Julep Box, I chose to receive:
- Charcoal Konjac Sponge All-Natural –
$12.00$9.60 for Mavens
- Eyeshadow 101 Crème-to-Powder Eyeshadow Stick in Orchid Shimmer –
$18.00$14.40 for Mavens
- Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow Duo in Tap & Ballet –
$24.00$19.90 for Mavens
In an adorable nod to Halloween, the box also included a Tootsie Roll. I don’t have a photo of it to share because I consumed it as soon as I saw it. 🙂
The Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow is the only product that I chose that is actually part of the October 2017 collection. All other products are nail polish, which I’ll share a little more about in a sec. I chose to get the eyeshadow duo in a pair of shades I knew I could use on a daily basis. In addition to the neutral shades I picked, this duo is available in 13 other combinations. Here’s a sneak peek:
Back to the nail polishes, which Julep is better known for. I have more polishes than I need right now, so I chose to forego this month’s collection of colors. The nail colors released this month are dark and gorgeous, take a look at the full Julep October 2017 Nail Polish Collection here:
I really think that all of these colors are stunning, but here are my top 3 favorites:
- Alonna – Bombshell
- Dot – It Girl
- Trixy – Boho Glam

Bottom Line: This is my favorite cruelty free beauty box so far! It’s my favorite Julep box so far too, which is a little awkward to say since I’ve picked out exactly what I receive the past 2 months. When it comes to flexibility, (picking what you get, skipping a month if you want) Julep can’t be beat.
What do you think of the Julep October 2017 collection?
