A SeneGence distributor, Melinda, recently reached out to me and asked if I’d be willing to review some products. Given the opportunity to try LipSense for free, I eagerly agreed. It is supposed to be amazing after all. After trying it, I can confirm that yes, it is as fantastic as everyone says it is.
Melinda sent me a fabulous gift package along with my LipSense Lip Collection. The collection includes a LipSense Lip Color (I asked to be sent Fly Girl), LipSense Moisturizing Gloss (in Glossy Gloss), and Ooops! Remover. Along with this collection, I received a Beauty Book, Melinda’s cards, a “How to Apply LipSense” guide, a beautiful blue cosmetics bag, and lots of great info. all about SeneGence and LipSense.
I’ve tried many other long wear lip colors and have found that they tend to dry out my lips, don’t actually last all that long, or are really uncomfortable to wear. When it comes to LipSense, I had NONE of these issues. Honestly, none! The key to comfortable, long-term wear is the gloss. As Melinda instructed me and as several of the informational sheets stated, apply that gloss as much as you want! And you’ll want to pretty often. As long as you have the Moisturizing Gloss on your lips, your color will feel incredibly comfortable.
As the gloss wears off, you’ll notice a slight stickiness on your lips, reminding you to swipe on some more. I didn’t mind keeping the gloss handy for frequent application because the LipSense shade itself applied gorgeously and did. not. budge. It stayed on so well, that even with using the Ooops! Remover (which can also be used to correct application mistakes) I had some difficulty removing it!
While wearing my LipSense shade and the Glossy Gloss, I smooched my daughter and didn’t have to wipe her cheek after, there was no color to wipe off. My husband begrudgingly agreed to kiss me with the color on, he hates when my lipstick transfers, but he was pleasantly surprised when there wasn’t a trace of red evidence on him. I wiped my lips with my finger, nothing. I ate and drank, the color looked as vibrant and flawless as it did when I initially applied it. I’m seriously SO impressed.
The 2nd time I applied the Lip Color, it did burn a bit and I could smell the alcohol in the Lip Color. This makes sense since the first ingredient listed is Alcohol Denat. Alcohol Denat is often used in cosmetics. Speaking of ingredients, from what I can find online, LipSense is Vegan and Gluten Free. It’s also cruelty free. Please, correct me if I’m wrong!
Proper application has a few steps, but they’re quick to complete and the color applies with ease. As detailed out in the Beauty Book Melinda provided me with, here’s how you apply LipSense:
Start with clean, dry lips. For a defined look, line with LinerSense first. With lips parted, apply LipSense in one direction beginning with the outside corner of the mouth. Spread color in a fluid, sweeping motion across lips to opposite corner (do not move applicator back and forth). Apply three layers for long-lasting results, letting color dry in between each layer. Finish with LipSense Gloss to keep your color lasting and your lips moist.
I followed these directions exactly, skipping the LinerSense, it’s not necesssary. I was pleased to discover that the LipSense Lip Color dries really quickly, so basically by the time you’re done swiping on one layer you can go back and start on the next. I was also super excited that I didn’t have to use the Ooops! Remover to make any corrections, because I didn’t make any mistakes. Usually, I’m a complete slob when it comes to applying long lasting lip colors. That just demonstrates how easy this lip color is to apply.
Out of curiosity, I pressed my lips together after applying my last layer of color, before applying my gloss. Don’t do that!! My lips stuck together like glue and pulled color off of each other, making the color slightly patchy looking. No problem, I swiped on one more layer of color, let it dry, then liberally applied the Moisturizing Gloss. With the Moisturizing Gloss, you can press your lips together to your heart’s content! 🙂 The gloss is a bit thick, but not sticky. The Glossy Gloss I received is great, but I’d really be interested to see how the Matte Gloss performs and feels.
LipSense Shades alone will run you $25.00. Not too bad for an all day lip color, but you can’t wear it alone. You must wear it with the gloss and the Moisturizing Gloss is another $20.00. You are getting 2 products, but only one (the gloss) can be worn without the other (the shade). In my mind, that means LipSense initially costs you at least $45.00. The Ooops! Remover has a modest cost, at only $10.00. For the complete collection of 3 products, you’ll be spending $55.00. Eh, it’s pricey, but based on its stellar performance, it’s worth it.
Once you get the essentials, there’s lots of room to play. LipSense Lip Color is available in 36 shades that I’m aware of and the LipSense Moisturizing Gloss is available in 11 options that I know of. That gives you 396 combinations to choose from, and that’s not even counting mixing different colors, glosses, or colors and glosses together! I find that many options really exciting!! 🙂
Bottom Line: The longevity of LipSense cannot be beat, this is easily the BEST long lasting liquid lipstick I’ve ever tried. I do not endorse multi-level marketing, but I am genuinely impressed with these LipSense products.
