Fenty Beauty Brand Review and First Impressions

While shopping on vacation, I just happened to encounter a Sephora. Then, I just happened to make a beeline for the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna products… Here’s what I found!

My 1st impression upon seeing these products in person: they’re larger and more substantial than I had imagined them. That’s fabulous since the price point is higher than expected for this line.

The first product I had to pick up and swatch was a Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick. I grabbed Chili Mango (Sun-Kissed Orange Sheen) since this was one of the colors that really caught my eye online. Wow, it’s pigmented! All of the Match Stix are. They’re also creamy and pretty easy to blend. I had a swatch party on my arm swatching this Shimmer Skinstick, along with Confetti (Iridescent Opal), Unicorn (Platinum Lilac), Rum (Gilded Bronze), Blonde (Glimmer Gold), and Yacht Lyfe (Glimmering Peach-Pink). Yeah, I swatched a lot of them!

Next, I used my fingertip to swipe on and swatch the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife. This is gold and glistening! Unlike your average highlighter, it not only glows, but it also shimmers like crushed diamonds. It actually has very fine specks of glitter in it. It is SO glittery that I couldn’t see myself using this on the daily. I would absolutely rock it at a concert or festival though, it is a must-have for going out and grabbing everyone’s attention. Like Rihanna sings, yellow diamonds in the skyyyy! Or in this case, yellow diamonds on your faaaace!

Being what seems to be the flagship product of this collection, I checked out the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. The formula is creamy and it has a medium consistency, finding the ideal balance between thin and thick. The coverage is medium to full, depending on how much you choose to apply. The shade below is not mine, but I thought it represented the formula well in photo form.

Before tearing myself away, I swatched the Gloss Bomb Universal Liquid Luminizer. This gloss has a thick formula but doesn’t feel sticky. It has a pleasant scent and a lovely shimmering rose nude hue.

Overall, while pricey, the products are sizable and quality. The packaging is sleek and streamlined and a majority of the products can be popped in your bag easily for beauty on the go. I’m impressed with the brand and its products, they’re not gimmicky celebrity products, they’re serious makeup products for everyone!
