Applying winged eyeliner can be frustrating, to say the least. I’ve had days where I try to do the wing, it sucks, so I wipe it off, then try again. I repeat this cycle until I say, forget it! NO wing today! After going through that, I sought out the advice of my fellow beauty bloggers and came across this essential makeup hack.
This is the method I now use on a regular basis, not every day but when I want my makeup to be easy to apply and flawless. I was skeptical of this method when I first started hearing about it, but I gave it a try anyway and it really works!
So, what is this miracle method? Using medical tape. Yup, I’ve mentioned it briefly here and there before and in this post I’ll describe exactly how you can use medical tape to get perfectly winged eyeliner every time you apply it!
What You Need
Tear off 2 pieces of medical tape, about 1 inch each.
Using your lower lash line as your guide, stick the tape to the outer corners of your eyes.
Starting at the upper inner corner of your eye, begin to apply your eyeliner. Stop once you get to the middle of your eye and give yourself a break. Eyeliner needs to be precise and I can’t do the entire line in one swipe, that’s why I recommend stopping halfway through. If you like to do one solid swoosh, go for it!
Continue your eyeliner line all the way to your tape. Stop here if you’d like a small, yet defined wing.
If you’d like a more dramatic wing, starting at the point in the tape where you’d like your wing to end, brush your eyeliner inward, instead of outward. Connect your lines to create one continuous line.
For achieving the perfect winged eyeliner, I recommend using theBalm Schwing Liquid Eyeliner. It’s a quick drying liquid liner that is easy to work with and long lasting. For a full review of this eyeliner, come back to my blog on Wednesday and check out my Review Wednesdays post.
