I’m all about trying out new beauty and skincare trends and after doing a bit of research I decided to try out the e.l.f. Cosmetics Beauty Shield Magnetic Mask Kit. The other magnetic masks that I found looked fantastic, but they were very pricey. This one had a moderate price and seemed like the perfect way to try out the trend and see if I’d like to commit to a more expensive version. After using this mask, I’m not sure I will. Not because I didn’t like the mask, quite the opposite actually! I liked this one so much that I don’t see the point in spending triple the price on a different brand.
This affordable magnetic mask is powered with antioxidants like Carrot Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Vitamins C and E, and Argan Oil. It helps protect agaisnt environmental aggressors, pollutants, dust, and smoke. It should also be noted that this formula is created without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or alcohol. e.l.f. Cosmetics is also cruelty free.
I purchased this mask from elfcosmetics.com for $24.00. Click here to shop.
To use this magnetic mask, follow these instructions very carefully.
With the scoop of the magnetic tool apply mask to a clean, dry face (avoiding the eye area). Leave on for 5-10 minutes.
Cover the head of the magnetic tool with one of the included magnet covers for a mess-free removal.
To take the mask off, hover the magnetic tool just above the surface of your skin, and glide slowly.
Discard cover after use.
For best results, do not rinse face off with water.
After applying the mask I felt a pretty intense warming feeling that stayed consistent the entire time I wore the mask. At the 5 minute mark, I began taking it off. I was quite surprised when I first lifted the magnetic tool to my cheek. The magnet is strong and my cheek popped right out to meet the magnet. I brought the magnet too close to my skin, so I pulled it away and tried again. BTW, this didn’t hurt it just took me by surprise and was a bit comical.
Hovering the magnetic tool just above the surface of your skin is key. Without noticing, I again connected the magnetic tool to the mask and started wiping the mask with the magnetic tool. This seemed more natural than hovering it over my face. Well, that didn’t work at all! It spread the mask around but didn’t remove it. Once I began hovering again, the mask was removed with ease.
A few specks of the mask remained after I had hovered the magnetic tool over my entire face, I gently wiped these off with a dry towel. I posted a short video of myself removing a portion of the mask on Instagram, click here to check it out.
This mask left my skin feeling moisturized, like I had just applied a face cream or face oil. I wanted to keep touching my skin because it was so soft. My skin also looked noticeably brighter and cleaner after using this mask.
Bottom Line: After completely removing the mask, my skin felt SO silky smooth. It was an experience to use, but I enjoyed the experience and look forward to using it again!
Is this a mask you’d try?
