The Alamo Drafthouse is the only place to see movies. It is my movie theater of choice because it serves food and drinks right to your assigned seat throughout the movie. This cinema offers a lot more than that though, they offer special showings, private parties, and family-friendly programs.
I’m an especially big fan of the Alamo for All showings. During Alamo for All showings:
- Lights are turned up and sound is turned down.
- All ages are welcome (including infants).
- Talking and noise is allowed and guests can move around.
- Latecomers are admitted.
- Adaptive technology is welcome (but no other electronics, please).
Some other special showings include, Girlie Night (showing movies like Dirty Dancing) and Terror Tuesday (showing movies like Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter).
All summer long the Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco has partnered with the San Francisco Public Library to present Kids Camp! All Kids Camp! ticket sales will be donated to local non-profits and free Kids Camp! movie tickets will be given out at the door on Wednesdays.
In addition to the movie showings, the Bear Vs. Bull Beer/Wine/Cocktail bar is located directly inside the Alamo Drafthouse. They serve a TON of draft beers and all different kinds of cocktails inside this dimly lit lounge. It’s a fabulous place to hang out before or after your featured presentation.
On my most recent trip to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, I decided to try out a head-to-toe look in different shades of black and gray.
The theaters inside this cinema are also comfortable, usually I’m freezing in movie theaters. Layers aren’t necessary when attending a movie here, but I did throw on my black trench coat because it was a bit chilly outside on this particular evening.
I wore my Levi’s Wedgie Fit jeans, which are tight at the waist but a bit loose through the leg. I also put on my Nine West booties so I could walk around the Mission District in San Francisco with ease.
What I Wore:
Blue Wayfarer Glasses – Ray Ban
Choker – BaubleBar
Top – ASOS
Shoes – Nine West
Black Trench Coat – Ralph Lauren – For a similar look, check out this coat:
Jeans – Women’s Levi’s Wedgie Icon Fit High Waist Crop Jeans
After the movie, we grabbed a bite to eat and a few drinks at Myriad. Myriad offers small plates, entrees, and mixed drinks made with wine.
Have you ever been to an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema or a movie theater like it?
Have a great weekend!

Thanks! It’s a very cool theater.
We have a movie theater like that here in Seattle but it is very modern – I like that this is an old historic theater that was converted!
