Ipsy offers a monthly "glam bag" dedicated to the makeup, skin care, beauty tools, and hair care from emerging and established brands.
Every month you can expect to receive a mix of 5 sample size products, and sometimes even a full size product is included, when you receive your Ipsy glam bag. Along with these carefully selected samples, you’ll receive a makeup bag that goes with that month’s glam bag theme. For example, the ipsy May 2017 theme is Summer Friday and the makeup bag is clear with ice cream cones and popsicles on it. In what I believe to be an ipsy first, this month’s bag is waterproof and ready for the beach or pool! Keep reading for what was included in my May 2017 ipsy Glam Bag, mini descriptions of each product, photos, and the ipsy monthly subscription box break down.
You know your monthly ipsy Glam Bag has arrived when you have a metallic pink shipping envelope in your mail box! As mentioned, every month you’ll receive an adorable makeup bag and 5 products. In addition, you may also receive product info. cards or just one card with a mini description of the current month’s theme. Pamphlets/information cards seem to vary month-to-month with ipsy. This month a simple card was included. One side featured a sunglasses-wearing pineapple, with the phrase “Your summer story starts here.” The other side gives a little intro to the bag and shares how to review the products you received. It also fills you in on the special hashtag you can use when sharing your products on social media: #ipsysummerfriday.
My ipsy May 2017 waterproof Glam Bag included:
- IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara in Black
- Jelly Ping Pong Supercharged Super Intense Eyeshadow Duo in Electric
- Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in BlackNoir
- Benefit Cosmetics gimme brow volumizing fiber gel
- Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray.
The Beauty Quiz taken when you subscribe to ipsy will determine which products you receive in your bag. Reviewing each product received will further refine the selections made for your bag the following month. Ipsy makes every effort possible to give you products you’ll not only want to try, but that you’ll be excited to try.
The first product I pulled out of the ice cream clad bag was the IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara in Black. I’ve tried this mascara before, and I like it, it gives your eyelashes a dramatic look without flaking after a long day.
The next product I reached for was the Jelly Ping Pong Supercharged Super Intense Eyeshadow Duo in Electric. The gold and rose gold shades in this duo are seriously shimmery – so perfect for summer! These eyeshadows remain vivid and bold all day, without creasing. That’s great, but the best features of these shades are that they are gluten-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free!
I next grabbed the Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in BlackNoir. I’ve tried this eye pen in other shades and love it. It goes on so smooth. The color is very pigmented and does not smear after application, which is very good if you have oily eyelids like I do. Pixi by Petra is another cruelty-free brand and I’m very happy to see it included in my glam bag this month.
The Benefit Cosmetics gimme brow volumizing fiber gel was the next product I opened. I was excited to try this at first, but that quickly faded. While it is water resistant, which is good, I found the application to be messy. Luckily, it blended in easily.
The last beauty product I took out was the Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray. This product is ideal for detangling after getting out of the shower. Spritz some onto damp hair and effortlessly brush your hair. This leave-in conditioner will also tame frizz, that is so good for summer heat and humidity.
The Ipsy Break Down:
Cost: This box will cost you $10.00 per month. Each box contains 5 sample size beauty, hair and skincare products, along with the occasional beauty tool, all in a collectible bag.
Cancellation: If you want to cancel your box after subscribing, you can on the ipsy.com site. You’ll be asked several times if you’re sure that you want to cancel, and then sent an e-mail with a link you’ll need to click to finalize the cancellation. Not bad.
Bottom Line: I would have liked to receive at least one full sized product in the glam bag, but other than that, this subscription has a good price and it comes in a charming makeup bag.
