Having great looking skin is a priority for many people who use skincare and makeup products on a regular basis. There are a myriad of products you can use to help make your skin look healthy, but there is more to skincare than buying every skincare product in sight hoping for a miracle. That is totally unnecessary and while there are many products I do recommend, it’s not just what you use that makes the difference, it’s what you do. Read on for my tips and tricks to get healthy, glowing skin.
We’ll start with the basics: wash, tone, and moisturize in that order. If nothing else, you MUST follow these 3 steps morning and night. Your skin will thank you for it by looking and feeling noticeably better.
For cleansing, I use Origins Checks And Balances(TM) Frothy Face Wash.
For toning, I use Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner With Saw Palmetto & Mint. For moisture, I use Glow Ruby Crystal Retinol Hydracreme 1.7 oz by Dr. Brandt Skincare® in the morning, and Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Transformation Cream before bed.
My next tip is to use an exfoliating cleanser, in place of your regular cleanser, 2-3 times a week. Exfoliating products combat dullness by clearing away dead skin cells and by drawing out surface oil. Exfoliating products also purify pores, are you sold on using one yet? I am! I love Ole Henriksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub.
Adding a mask to your skincare routine 2-3 times a week is also a great idea. Masks can specifically address any skincare concerns you may have. I’m currently obsessed with the Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle 24K Gold Intense Wrinkle Sheet Mask.
One more product you can add to your regular skincare routine is a serum. Serums can be used morning and evening after cleansing, before moisturizing. Read your specific serum’s instructions though, as frequency of application may differ. Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Transformation Gel is a great one to try at night. During the day, I like Ole Henriksen Truth Serum.
To really give your skin a brightening boost, schedule yourself a little me time and get a facial on a monthly basis. Ask what facial your favorite spa recommends off of their menu to address your concerns or browse their website to see what facial best meets your needs.
Even booking a quick mini-facial is a good idea. Any facial on a regular basis, is better than none! To cut down on costs, check out Groupon or look for first time client discounts. Finding a spa that offers a membership could help save some cash too. Spa memberships usually offer member discounts on an array of services, including discounted prices on monthly facials (or massages!).
Last, but certainly not least, drink plenty of water. Keeping yourself hydrated will keep your skin hydrated, minimizing dryness and dullness.
